“Ready to share and happy to help.”
The Working Actor NYC is fast becoming the go-to resource for actors at all stages of their careers to find information, community, and support. Since starting in January 2025, The Working Actor NYC YouTube channel has already amassed more than 150 videos—ranging from podcast conversations to Practical how-tos to short-form clips packed with tips, tricks, and behind-the-scenes footage from the life of a working actor.
Our mission is simple: to take the mystery (and a little of the misery) out of building a sustainable acting career. We’re here for the student actor trying to book that first gig, the mid-career pro navigating agents and self-tapes, and the veteran who just needs a reminder they’re not alone in this rollercoaster industry. With a mix of industry insight, hard-won advice, and a healthy dose of humor, The Working Actor NYC isn’t just about surviving the business—it’s about finding joy, connection, and craft along the way.

Patrick Richwood
Patrick Richwood has been an actor since Moses was a boy and a professional one for just a few years less than that. Raised in a show business family in Burbank, California, he took an interest in acting when he discovered he could wear down his exasperated teachers by making them laugh. Naturally it was only a matter of time before he was drunk with power. At eighteen, Patrick became a member of Actor's Equity in the National Tour of a Broadway musical, which brought him to NYC where he has lived, along with Los Angeles, for the last 44 years. In that time, he's created roles on stages across the USA, on Television series and commercials and in many notable films. At some point in the last 10 years, Patrick won Benjamin Howes in a raffle and hasn't been able to shake him, (or stop laughing), since.

Benjamin Howes
Benjamin Howes moved to New York City in 1999 to study acting at HB Studio, Uta Hagen’s school in the West Village, after an early performing career in Australia.
Before the end of his first year, Benjamin was granted permanent residency and began to pursue work in the industry. His career now includes Broadway, Off Broadway, National Tours, regional theatre, plenty of TV you’ve heard of and a few films you haven’t.
Along the way, Benjamin found a little stray pup called Patrick Richwood. Turns out he’s lovely when he isn’t pulling the stuffing out of the sofa cushions.
Patrick and Benjamin spent a lot of time recording each other’s self tapes which would inevitably extend into Zoom chat fests. Thus, the idea for The Working Actor NYC was born.
